Tidbits

• I came up with this story idea totally by chance/random while on a road trip.

• I didn't originally plan to have Larkin and Jamie in this story, but it fit perfectly when they did so I gave them a larger role.

• Ambrose's dislike of Larkin (or, I should say, Spaniards in general) had everything to do with ongoing hostilities between the English and the Spanish. Although the Anglo-Spanish War had ended in 1660, conflicts between the two nations continued in the Caribbean and southern American colonies until the 1800s. It should be noted, Ambrose (or any English colonist at that time) would have been equally suspicious of anyone with a Dutch or a French surname. The early modern period was a turbulent time and, as a result, xenophobia was high.
