Tidbits
• I didn't originally plan to write this alternate POV book at all. I finished MYSTERY and intended to move on to another project, but I couldn't shake Leander. Early readers also wanted to know what was going on inside his head, so that's how RATIONALE was born. It was still MF at that point; it didn't turn MM until after the first draft was done.
• I totally stole another Edgar Allan Poe title for this book: The Rationale of Verse.
• Writing Leander's POV was as hard as I imagined it would be. I tend to be something of a "method writer," in that I take on a lot of my characters' personality traits while I'm writing. Combining Leander's depression with my own, on top of a stressful day job and the demands of a family, took a greater toll than I thought it would.
